Photograph of American soldiers gathering up dead Sioux Indians after the Wounded Knee Massacre in South Dakota, January 1, 1891. A line of soldiers wearing long jackets and holding rifles can be seen standing behind an open trench. Two men stand in the trench behind a pile of dead bodies. Other bodies are visible in a pile to the right of the trench. Photoprint reads: "My father -- Eugene L. Dwian(?)".
