Image of a diploma issued in 1881 to Julia L. McCarthy from the San Francisco Girls' High School; three allegorical women (one with art supplies, one with a torch and eagle, and one with a book and quill pen) above San Francisco seal at bottom center; decorative border made up of "poetry" and "philosophy" columns and portraits of Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Morse, William Shakespeare, and Alexander Humboldt surrounding text.
Single-color print. "Lith. Britton, Rey & Co. S.F."--text, bottom center margin.
