A handwritten note indicates two of the houses were owned by photographers Benjamin Jarvis and his son Lucius E. Jarvis, the owners of the Jarvis studio. Title transcribed from back of photo-mount. Date devised by cataloger based on general style of photograph and history of area. Photographer's imprint printed on back of photo-mount. Handwritten along top right of photo: "Father Jarvis bought these two -- moved them to Elevado Dr. and N. Orange Grove. He lived in the square one 15 years. Lucius lived in the other. / 7 houses built at one time. Later were moved to various locations in Pasadena. Houses were built by Mayor Lukens who lived on El Molino just above Walnut." A clipping of a photo of Mayor Lukens is affixed to lower right corner, with caption: "T.P. Lukens (April 1890-April 1892 and April 1894-April 1895." Also written below clipping, "Mayor of Pasadena."
