Bolshoi Ballet is part of the Bolshoi Theater, which also includes Russia's premier opera company. Bolshoi Ballet is one of the principal ballet companies of Russia and amongst the oldest and greatest ballet companies of the world, having begun as a dancing school for the Moscow Orphanage in 1773.
Photograph caption dated August 13, 1987 reads, "The Golden Age," with Alla Mikhalchenko as Rita and Irek Mukhamedov as Boris, is the Bolshoi's first L.A. performance in eight years."
