V1p32a In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 32 top. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text under photo: "Plaza, Bella Union Theatre and Telegraph Hill. The Veranda Saloon on N.E. corner Kearny and Washington was in the 70s occupied by Dr. C.C. O'Donnell. The Dr. had his office on the 2nd floor. In early days this house was a notable gambling resort. The Bella Union later moved around the corner on Kearny Street." View from Portsmouth Plaza northeast towards Telegraph Hill. Photo looks retouched. Date based on Fardon's "San Francisco Views".
