Photograph caption dated September 13, 1971 reads, "Computerized nerve center at Department of Water and Power's Pacific Intertie facility in the Valley controls output of millions of volts of power. Completion of the system was set back by Feb. 9 quake which ravaged much of the Valley's power systems (right)."
