Photograph caption dated February 20, 1948 reads, "Joan Crawford answers suit, denies she saw 'shock treatment'. Mrs. Pauline McKay, who claimed that her right to privacy was invaded in May, 1946, filed a suit against Crawford, claiming that Crawford, in preparation for a film role, had witnessed her receiving shock treatments while in a sanitarium. In the suit, McKay's husband, Charles, requested $200,000 in damages from Crawford and others.
