Mrs. Pauline McKay, who claimed that her right to privacy was invaded in May, 1946, filed a suit against Crawford, claiming that Crawford, in preparation for a film role, had witnessed her receiving shock treatments while in a sanitarium. In the suit, McKay's husband, Charles, requested $200,000 in damages from Crawford and others.
