V2p6f In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. II, page 6 bottom right. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Waist-length portrait of Sloss. Text written under photo: "Louis Sloss, Alaska Commercial Co." Sloss came to California in 1849 and became one of the business leaders in San Francisco, principally with the Alaska Commercial Company. Sloss was also a member of the 1895 Board of Freeholders who drew up and attempted to pass a new City Charter that year. Louis Sloss was the father of Superior Court Judge Marcus C. Sloss.
