Description
Photograph of a dog on the porch at Guajome Ranch in San Diego, ca.1900. The dog, whose name is Alta, is lying down at center. The porch is a long, narrow, covered patio with a low lattice wall at left and a wooden roof. The adobe walls of the house are visible at right and a door leading into the house is directly behind Alta. The inner courtyard of the house is visible beyond the porch at left and is filled with a variety of plants and trees. The picture was taken several years after Mrs. Couts's death. She was Ysidora Bandini, the third daughter of Don Juan Bandini and Maria Dolores Estudillo.
