Description
Photograph caption dated April 12, 1948 reads, "Niccolo d'Arezzo, brilliant young son of Ortello, Italy's greatest race horse who died last year in California, arrived yesterday to stand at stud at Conejo Ranch near Camarillo. The stakes winning stallion was purchased and imported by Richard Hamilton and Ed Janss, Jr., Los Angeles breeders. The Italian importation is half brother to England's sensational sire, Nearco, current leading sire of the British turf. Shown in photograph is Edward Le Baron, well known band leader and close friend of Hamilton, and George Thomas Every, a leading European jockey who accompanied the stallion to America."
