Photograph caption dated February 21, 1961 reads "It's a call late at night. It could be a traffic accident, a drowning, a suicide, an expectant mother having a baby in a taxi cab. Vince Pratt and Don Peskett, members of a rescue-ambulance squad stationed in the Valley by the Los Angeles Fire Department, left photo, prepare to get under way. Enroute to their call, center, the two men are prepared for any emergency. 'We're trained to stop bleeding, straighten mangled limbs and safely transport victims to the hospital,' said Pratt. 'Our obligation is to do anything we can to provide emergency help.' At the scene, right, Pratt works on patient. Trained to treat emergencies in a hurry, members of the rescue squad receive courses in first aid and undergo a year of field training."
