Description
Image of an elevation view of the side of a manual fire engine used by the Franklin Engine No. 3 company of Brooklyn, New York, labeled "Franklin" on the red carriage body and "Franklin 3" at the front; the vehicle was built by William Jeffers of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Date range based on general builder and engine history; Jeffers began focusing on steam engines around 1861. "Lithographed & Printed In Colors By Endicott & Co. N.Y."--text, lower center of image. "Wm. Jeffers, Builder. / Pawtucket, R.I."--text, bottom left margin. "Organized, April, 17th. 1806."--text, bottom right margin.
