Photograph caption dated August 5, 1961 reads "Mother Mary of Jesus, O.S.F., regional superior, and Mrs. Walter Brennan of Northridge, in foreground, are looking over the newly completed Poverello of Assisi Retreat in San Fernando, the Valley's first Catholic retreat house for women. They are joined by Mother Mary Joseph, O.S.F., and Mrs. Frank Moran of Northridge. Reservations are being taken for the first retreat at the mission-style building, 1519 Woodworth St., which begins Aug. 18. Both Catholic and non-Catholic women are invited." The retreat center is on the grounds of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Novitiate.
