Description
Photograph of a view down an unidentified street in Columbia, California, ca.1930 (1894?). A wide, dirt road is pictured at center, curving gently to the right distance. On the left side of the street, commercial shops can be seen, a group of dalliers sitting outside the foremost shop, while a separate man can be seen on the roof. Farther in, early automobiles can be seen parked on either side. Trees line most of the image to the right. Photoprint reads: "Old buildings and old trees -- elms, poplars and cottonwoods line the street -- 'Stage Drivers' Saloon on the corner -- all date from teh 1850s". Legible signs from left to right include: "Ice Cream. [D]rinks. Lunches.", "McLaughlin & Son. Miners Supplies. Ener[...]. Merchandise", and "Justice of the Peace".
