Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
In 1945, architect Henry L. Gogerty opened "Mirage Park," an airstrip that he leased as a flying school; the following year, he opened the Desert Air Hotel - the desert's first fly-in hotel and airport, which soon became the social heart of the community. Desert Air Hotel was located on Bob Hope Drive, northeast of SR111, which is now occupied by the Rancho Las Palmas Country Club.
