Description
Photograph of the guard tower on the northwest corner of Manzanar with Sierra Nevada in the background. The photograph is taken from outside of the camp boundaries. The floodlight and accompanying power lines can also be seen. The collection was donated by Ralph "Pete" Merritt, Jr. and Patricia Merritt. It is comprised of photographs from an album created by L. Josephine Hawes, the Chief Nurse at the Manzanar Hospital, and individual photographs collected by Ralph P. Merritt, the Project Director of the Manzanar War Relocation Center.
