Workers are shown constructing the foundation of what became the J.W. Robinson's store, located on Seventh Street between Grand and Hope. Various large dwellings surround the site.; J.W. Robinson's, originally known as The Boston Dry Goods Store, was founded in Los Angeles in 1883. Completed in 1915, the building under construction here was updated in 1934 to have an Art Deco look that still exists today.
