Description
Photograph shows the Y.W.C.A. building on Second and San Antonio streets, designed by architect Julia Morgan. On June 2, 1914, the Y.W.C.A. of San Jose started their 10 day building campaign with a goal to raise $100,000. They raised $105,310 which was used to build this three story building. It was opened on May 12, 1916 and was San Jose's first community and recreation center for women. From: Smith, p. 25-27. An annex was added onto this existing building. It opened in December 1926.
