Description
Cooper's painting of buffalo crossing a river is one of his finest works. He was a prolific artist and at one time sold one of his paintings for $62,500, which at today's prices would be several million dollars. Although his paintings sold in Europe and the United States, many of them were traded to pay his bar bills. One of the most colorful of San Jose artists, he maintained a studio in east San Jose and enjoyed the good life. Stories of his exploits abound. LM 4" x 5" copy negative stored in H001243
