Description
A girl in wheelchair with leg braces waits while her mother talks to the receptionist at the Long Beach Adelaide Tichenor Orthopedic Hospital. Adelaide Tichenor was an influential civic leader. She helped found the Ebell Club, the city"s public library, and monies left after her death established the Tichenor Orthopedic Clinic in 1926. The facility provided rehabilitative services to underserved children. The programs include: Orthopedic consultation, occupational and speech-language therapy, swim lessons, and early intervention program. (ln) DATE NOTES: April 23, 1936. ORIG.
