Postcard depicting a C-47 “Skytrain” being toed by an airplane tug at McClellan Field. Established in 1936, McClellan Field served as a major supply, procurement, and repair depot on the US west coast during World War II. The base employed over 21,000 people at the height of the war. On the back is a 1944 note from a Private E.W. Luernheim to his father in Collinsville, Illinois.
