Description: This October 1960 image was taken at the Mabel Gillis Branch of the Sacramento City Library, located at 4001 60th St. Kneeling and sitting in the foreground, are, left to right, patrons Cheryl Serra, Star Sawyer and Sydney West. The library's popularity was borne out by statistics from that era. For the 1959-60 fiscal year, Sacramento city libraries circulated from 993,221 books, up from 595,768 for the 1950-51 fiscal year.
