Various newspaper articles and clipping compiled by the War Relocation Authority about Japanese Americans written in April 1944. Primarily articles about Japanese American military service during WWII. Articles include: "Japanese American Hero;" "Banzai he makes it!: Japanese-American accepted by army on fourth try;" "Jap American soldier killed on Italian front;" "Japanese-Americans find haven in 'road back' to normal living," article about providing housing and employment to Japanese Americans in Minneapolis, Minnesota, "Loyal Japs treatment criticized, article about prisoner of war Reverend Luther Tucker's condemnation of racism and bigoted blindness' attitude of average American; "Seven Japanese newly relocated here," hiring Japanese-American mechanics for automotive repair work in Baltimore, Maryland; "Under the Bunya Tree," a play performed by Poston Incarceration Camp High School Students; "Japanese to get pre-draft exams." The War Relocation Authority (WRA), together with the Wartime Civil Control Administration (WCCA), the Civil Affairs Division (CAD) and the Office of the Commanding General (OFG) of the Western Defense Command (WDC) operated together to segregate and house some 110,000 men women and children from 1942 to 1945. The collection contains documents and photographs relating to the establishment and administrative workings of the (WDC), the (WRA) and the (WCCA) for the year 1942.
