C. F. Sullivan, United Air Lines night mail pilot, located two Navy planes stranded in the fog above San Diego, California, and, by flashing signals, led them to the safety of Camp Kearny field. Sullivan's plane was equipped with a radio-telephone, and it was by this means that the Navy informed him of the sea flyer's plight.
