Photograph caption dated August 26, 1960 reads "Von's Grocery Co., at 13333 Riverside Drive, consider their store personnel 'first and last' in customer service. Consequently each new employe (sic) receives training in courtesy and frequent 'refreshers' in techniques on 'rolling out the Red Carpet' for customers. Staff meetings, publications and special employe (sic) incentive participation program which started August 15th encourage 'plush rug' treatment of all customers. 'Service with a smile' is the theme which means a guaranteed welcome and a pleasant shopping atmosphere at your nearby Von's market.
