Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated June 3, 1963 reads "Highway construction progresses - Bulldozer prepares grading as part of improvement of a six-mile section of Angeles Forest Highway on both sides of Mil Creek Summit. The Los Angeles County-sponsored project will provide additional passing lanes to provide for increased safety and eliminate congestion caused by slow moving vehicles on the mountain grades. The section is part of an over-all improvement of the Angeles Forest Highway as the principal route connecting Pasadena - La Canada with the Antelope Valley and many mountain recreational areas."
