Description
Many local architects were interviewed, but renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright was selected by the Marin County Civic Center Committee to design their new complex. In his proposal, Wright emphasized his theory of organic architecture. The Administration Building and Hall of Justice commenced construction in 1960 and 1966 respectively. The two-part complex was completed in 1969, 10 years after his death. The Marin County Civic Center, in San Rafael, California, is a national and state designated historic landmark. The nearby fairgrounds house the Marin County Fair each July.
