Description
On the afternoon of July 3, 2003, construction and fire crews raze the remains of the Comstock building, located at Eighth and J Streets. Built of brick, the structure was, in part, known for the ornamental tiles that dotted its facade. They had been added in the 1920s. At the time of the Comstock fire, it was speculated by the City of Sacramento that the city was losing a historic building every two years.
