Description
Engraving, after a design by W.H. Hermans. Depicts Lincoln ascending to heaven, being welcomed by the spirit of George Washington. They are surrounded by angels. One holds an elongated feather (quill?) and is placing a laurel wreath on Lincoln's head. Imagery suggests portrayal of Lincoln as martyr and secular saint. Judd Stewart cat. #127
