It was the very first Academy Awards ceremony to be broadcast on television and was carried by the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). Photograph caption dated March 20, 1953 reads, "Jane Wyman, a former Oscar winner, presents award for best two-reel short subjects, which was won by Walt Disney for his film, 'Water Birds'."
