Photograph caption dated October 30, 1959 reads, "X-7 Joins "Staff" -- Newest "member" of UCLA engineering faculty is Lockheed-built X-7 missile which was given to university by Air Force as space age teaching tool. Inspecting 38-foot long missile are, from left, Air Force Col. Roy Gustafson, Gordon Smith of Lockheed sales department and Prof. Wendell A. Mason, vice chairman of UCLA department of engineering."
