Description
Handwritten note on reverse: "The old de Forest farm house. The huge elm was planted by our grand father Lee De Forest and other elms by your father - I have been told. I wish the lovely hills nestling close were pictured and the bending river in the foreground - and the apple orchard and the sugar bush on the slope beyond. All seemed like hallowed ground - and I tread softly. I wish you and Marie and Eleanor could have shared it with me. Taken Sept. 19th, 1936." "My father, Henry S. de Forest was born here, Mar. 17, 1833."
