In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], vol. A, leaf 16.
Bridge in the process of construction; wooden scaffolding extends in a perpendicular direction from the arch; diagonally placed struts extend from the roadway into the water; steel structure is in place except for the arch area which is still surrounded by scaffolding; Sacramento River is in the foreground with a boat which is located in the lower right corner.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"The Southern Pacific Bridge, completed in 1911, picture was taken in 1910". Bridge is two level Swing Truss bridge with railroad tracks below, automobile/pedestrian on upper level.
