Description
The Fox Uptown Theatre was located at 1008 So. Western Avenue in Los Angeles and was built in 1925. It ran first-run movies for Fox, seating 1,600 people, and had a large roof-top sign. It was demolished in 1963.
Shows the two sides of the block where Uptown Theatre is located. The sign Uptown hangs on the building on the corner and also over the marquee and entrance which are half a block down on the right side. The rest of the block is the commercial patrons of the building. Above the building is the giant sign Fox Uptown Theatre. Architect: L.A. Smith.
