Photograph article dated August 15, 1960 partially reads, "There may be no gold in 'them thar hills,' but there appears to be silver beneath a giant hangar at Edwards Air Force Base near Lancaster in the Antelope Valley - and it's producing a minor headache for officials. Excavators, who currently are digging a wide, 27-foot-deep hole for installation of new equipment in the center of the hangar, struck what local prospectors say is a definite indication of a rich silver deposit." Note: Robert Jackson, who is in charge of the excavation for the Air Force, can be seen checking silver ore.
