Description
The story of the pioneers who settled the Santa Clara Valley, and Oak Hill Memorial cemetery where many of them are buried. Tells the story of San Jose using early woodcuts, pictures, and live footage shot at Oak Hill cemetery. The history is dealt with in order to show the importance of Oak Hill in our heritage. Details mentioned in the film include Donner Party survivors settling in San Jose, the Civil War and Oak Hill, opening of stores, and about the bank and courthouse, and, finally, about the Chapel of Roses and the traditional sunrise Easter service at Oak Hill.
