Description
This recording includes a discussion of the planning for the 1965 Mary's Day celebration, lead by Corita Kent, with other members of the faculty. Mary's Day was an annual, college-wide celebratory procession to honor the Virgin Mary, but also served to call attention to contemporary social issues like hunger, poverty, and war. The celebration also included food, music, dancing, and readings, often revolving around a particular theme, with decorations created by the art department to coincide with the theme.
