Photograph caption dated March 28, 1958 reads, "The Valley Times congratulates newspaperboy Dick Hawes for having won the February Newspaperboy of the Month contest. Dick lives at 18812 Runneymede, Reseda. Dealer Chuck Smart presented Dick with a new watch for having won first prize. Besides being an outstanding newspaperboy, Dick is very active in sports, having won several ribbons and trophies in all-around sports activities. Runner-up newspaperboys for Valley Times Carrier of the Month were Eddie Pfleghardt, Roger Rice, Jim Ferguson, Richard Duncan, John Lomma, Al Bishop, Gordon Clint, Bill Moore and Van Brown."
