Photograph of a seaman on the deck of a schooner holding, by the wing, a gooney bird (blackfoot albatross), ca.1900-1930. The vessel is somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. The bird has the tail of the man's jacket in his beak. Another gooney bird stands on the deck looking on. Four masts in full sail are visible behind him. An albatross cannot fly except from water.
