Photograph caption dated July 30, 1988 reads, "Fire crew contemplates plight of antique plane that crashed and flipped upside-down in stream bed near downtown Police helicopter unit that trailed plane after noticing parts falling off said it just cleared freeway traffic. Chopper hovered as one officer pulled badly injured pilot out." This site is located between Fletcher Drive and Ripple Avenue, east of Riverside Drive.
