Description
Two experiments tested the effect of phylloxera biotype A and B and water stress on phylloxera resistance in grape rootstocks. One experiment tested two water stress levels, two rootstocks (AXR#l and St. George) and three phylloxera treatments (Biotype A only). Fruit chemistry, yield, and vegetative growth parameters were analyzed. Water stress caused a difference in vegetative growth. No significant differences were found due to rootstock or to phylloxera treatment. The second experiment tested AXR#l rootstock grown at two water stress levels and three phylloxera treatments (control, biotype A, biotype B). Fruit chemistry, yield, and vegetative growth parameters were analyzed. Water stress caused a significant difference in vegetative growth. Control and phylloxera biotype A did not show differences from each other. Phylloxera biotype B showed significant differences from phylloxera biotype A and control treatments in several parameters.
