At the base of the Matterhorn (center) is the Monsanto House of the Future, which was demolished in 1967.
Photograph caption dated April 23, 1962 reads "Easter activities at Disneyland included ascension of balloon from the movie, 'Around the World in 80 Days.' Balloon is shown rounding the Matterhorn in free flight. Balloonists Peter Pellegrino and Francis Shields rode it to 2000 feet and 45 minutes later were reported landed safely 10 miles away in a Villa Park orange grove."
