Photograph caption dated March 27, 1959 reads, "Picking up speed for freeway - Light, mid-day traffic picks up speed on formerly quiet residential Sarah street off Laurel Canyon boulevard. Residents protested to both city and state officials that original plans for Ventura freeway called for separate on-ramp. Highway officials, however, designated Sarah as three-block on-ramp, changed it to one-way, and widened it to accommodate traffic."; See image #00116312 for additional photo in this series.
