Description
Two women pose, one in a walking dress, the other in a ball dress from 1831. The woman on the left wears a lime green cloak with a black collar folded over. Underneath she wears a lavender dress with a belt and a white ruff with three rows of lace around her neck. She wears white gloves and black walking boots. She wears a large bonnet that is black and lined in pink, with a pink ribbon tied at her chin. Black feathers and lace decorate the top of her bonnet, and a black, lace edged veil flows down her back. Her hair is dressed in four rows of curls, with a center part, and she wears a ruffled, white lace cap under her bonnet. She leans over the woman on the right, with one hand on her shoulder and one on her wrist. The woman on the right wears a blue ball dress with short puffed sleeves. Her bodice is fitted, with a drape that crosses over itself at the front. Her dress has a wide, gathered, white lace border at the hem with three narrow white stripes above it. A white, lace edged bow and pink rose adorn the dress at the row of stripes on the left front. She wears white gloves, white shoes, and has a white, sheer lace shawl draped around her shoulders and arms. She wears a gold necklace looped twice around her neck, with a large gold locket or pendant, which she holds in her left hand. Her hair is braided into four rows on each side of her head, with a small bun at the top, and a white rose and green leaves placed in the bun. She wears a silver filet or hair ornament with a jewel at her hairline. She sits in a muted pink arm chair in a room with brown carpet with a floral pattern.
