Description
A photograph of a party on an excursion to San Gabriel Canyon, 1901 March 27. The view shows two sets of horse-drawn vehicles, one covered, stopped on a dirt road going through uncultivated fields. Above is an ink inscription: "3 P.M. / Mar 27 1901 / Leaving the ranch for our Camping / trip up the San Gabriel Canon & through the orange belt. Drove 23 miles today to E. Los Angeles." The reference to East Los Angeles would certainly be today's Lincoln Heights. The paper mount the photo is attached to has some browning, a small stain and light soiling and the overall condition is good.
