This house in 1970 at 232 Heliotrope Avenue was formerly at what is now (1970) the southeast corner of Jasmine and WildRose Aves. At the time of the picture (1904) it was the home of Mr. & Mrs. L.E. Hotchkiss. He is shown with his infant daughter, Frances Louise, who was born June 7, 1904 in this house. Their other daughter, Cryssie Anne, was born here Nov. 6, 1905. This house was built for J.F. Sartori, early day real estate man and later an organizer of the First National Bank of Monrovia. The house was built on the Pacific View Tract, presumably in 1887 -- one of Mr. Sartori's projects when he was in the real estate business. Mr. Sartori went on to become a leading figure in California banking circles, ultimately President of the Security First National Bank of Los Angeles.
