A PENTHOUSE ON THE ANCHORAGE - Nestled between the Steel A-frames, already half buried in concrete, is a little bungalow which will be used as an office for the bridge inspectors atop the 235-foot Concrete Center Anchorage, Pier W-4, of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The eight catwalk cables for the two foot bridges can be seen leaving this Anchorage, ready for the application of the mesh flooring which will make it possible for workmen and inspectors to walk on this aerial promenade. Chief Engineer C. H. Purcell estimates that cable spinning operations will begin after the middle of June and spinning machinery is now being erected.
