Description
Image of Madie D. Brown, a California State Park Commissioner, standing next to a boulder covered with a sheet unveiling a tablet beginning "California State Beach, Dedicated the 8th day of July 1931, by the honorable James Rolph, Jr., Governor." The photograph was taken before the dedication ceremonies opening the beach-side park in Santa Monica, California, on July 8, 1931.
"Mrs. Edmund N. Brown 5953"--text, handwritten on glass. Title transcribed from item; date devised by cataloger based on date of plaque dedication. Madie D. Brown was California State Park Commissioner.
