Description
Bust-length portrait. 2003-0203. Born in Germany in 1830 of Jewish Prussian parents, came to California in 1850. Was mining engineer, building Sutro Tunnel in the Comstock Lode. Active in San Francisco in real estate, served as mayor. Died in 1898.
