Description
A group of men, women and children gather around a religious statue holding the Holy Infant of Atocha in Berlín. The statue is standing on top of a blue wooden table where there is also a vase with flowers. An elderly women is standing on the right, with her arms crossed on her chest and wearing a black veil on her head. Behind her there are three men, one of them holding a child in his arms. Guerrillas occupied the town for four days before the Salvadoran military attacked the town with rockets launched from airplanes. Bishop Arturo Rivera y Damas, bishop of San Salvador, denounced the assault a few days after and announced that the destruction left more than 300 people (mostly civilians, and few Salvadoran soldiers and rebels) dead during that week of February.
